my promo stuff and munny

My postcard, business card, letter, envelope, and stamp finally came in the mail yesterday! i am so excited about having my professonal looking business card in my hand and ready to introduce myself to the world!
sorry for the bad photo of my promotion stuff...

On the other hand...
I bought Munny for myself about two months ago (big one). Then my boyfriend bought me another Munny for Valentine's Day (small one). It looks sooo cute together and now I am thinking about what to paint on them. It is harder than creating an illustration because I am already attached to them so much. But I am excited!:)

IF "multiple"

This week's Illustration Friday topic was "multiple" so this is what I did. I tried to illustrate the raw, natural reaction human (girls?) have to things they don't want to see or gossips they don't want to see. And yes, it's veeeery different from what I normally do.

teatrio

I have finally finished and got prints of this year's TEATRIO competition. This year's theme was Ghosts and Getaways. So I started with thumbnails. I tried to think about simple shapes and the flow of the panels. And after talking to my professor, I decided to do a story on a grandfather and a rabbit.
Then I realized I do too much rabbits. So I thought about animals with big mouth. And the answer for me was a hippo! So I did some little color comps.

After showing many progress to my friends and professors, I finally finished today! I will upload the images on my website but I just wanted to show a little preview. For each piece, I have about 30 layers of textures and colors... and my mac was crying for help. Thank you mac, you did an awesome job!

i have been...

I have been working on few illustration outside school recently. I have almost completed 6 pannel illustration for a competition and I did another rabbit illustration for Read It Loud! They have already used my rabbit poster, panphlet for the family night read event, and now it is going to be used in brochures! I have seen the half-way-done brochure and it looks good so I am looking forward to how my illustration is going to fit in there!
On the other hand, I have been making illustration for my family and friends. I really appreciate them and I just wanted to say thank you and I love them. It is also good to get away from Photoshop:)
sorry for the bad quality... i didn't scan this before I gave it so I had to take a picture.. It is done in ink dyes, watercolor, pen and ink and color pencils.
For this one, I used Gouache, watercolor and color pencils.

This is an illustration I made for Illustration Friday. This week's topic was "blanket" so I thought of little rabbits in a blanket. trying to impress (scare?) a girl rabbit. In the end, it was fun to draw bunch of rabbits!

last weekend and this weekend

since last weekend, I have been to many lectures by awesome people. One was by Sterling Hundley. His lecture was very interesting and very personal. He explained the stories behind his artwork, and he included some tips about the mind set after college. He really helped me gain confidence in my artwork. I think he has a nice, polite attitude and interested in everything. I hope I am or I can be a humble person like him one day. The other lecture/workshop I went was by Carol Barton. She is a pop up book artist. Her lecture was mainly about how she found about pop up book and how she got into that world. Her craftsmanship is truly amazing!!! In the end of the lecture, she turned all the light off and took out her pop up book that LIGHTS UP in the dark! It was the most beautiful pop up book I had ever seen! The next day, I went to her workshop and she taught us some basic tricks. And this is my test pop up work.
It took me about 5 minutes to do each pop up card. It's so amazing how my illustration becomes active! Simple but beautiful. I respect that so much.
